One of the things that excites me is discovering new books and series! Guess what? I’ve recently stumbled upon a gold mine in Baby Lit! It all started when I reached out to a former colleague (Hello, Mr. G!) who also happens to represent some of the best publishers in the US. I inquired about the latest books from his publishers and he sent me a list. I giddily cross checked some of them in Amazon. It brought me back to the days when I was still working at a specialty bookstore, choosing what books to buy for our branches. I almost squealed in delight when I saw the Baby Lit series from Gibbs Smith! 🙂
I was a Literature major in college so the classics has a special place in my heart. 🙂 I look forward to the day when my son will be able to appreciate the greats like Frank L. Baum or Harper Lee! Now what’s really adorable about this series is that it has labels like Little Miss Austen and Little Master Kipling (depending on who the author is). Too cute!!! 🙂 The concepts are basically for preschool level. The illustrations are wonderful and if you’ve read the book you can even make a short intro or background about its real story through the pictures!
Let’s look at our Pride and Prejudice counting primer. My son loves the illustrations. Using this board book, I was able to explain to him what a gentleman means, what English villages are, and more. We are not yet done exploring soldier’s uniforms and some orchestra music. There are so many things you can do with the book aside from counting!
Now let’s go to our Jungle Book animals primer! Some of these books come with toys like this set. We didn’t get to watch the latest Jungle Book movie but this book sparked Timmy’s interest in its story. We watched the Bear Necessities songs after we read this book for the first time. 🙂 It was also very timely because we had this book when we were studying animals during our homeschool!
Here he is reading the book to his animal friends! 🙂
Now let’s go to our Alice in Wonderland colors primer! Vibrant and delightful, this book is a great inspiration for kids’ art projects! Timmy particularly loves the purple bottle page and often asks me what will happen if he drinks each one of them. Haha! I will be introducing the simplified version of the story to him soon plus some fun Alice in Wonderland arts and crafts over the coming weeks. So excited! 🙂
Other titles in this series include Les Miserables (French Language Primer), Treasure Island (Shapes Primer), Sherlock Holmes: The Hound of the Baskervilles (Sounds Primer), Wuthering Heights (Weather Primer) and more! This series is a great way of gently introducing the classics to our little ones! 🙂
The books are available in National Book Store, Powerbooks, and Fullybooked branches. If it’s out of stock, you can leave your name in the customer service along with the titles you want and contact number. 🙂 Hope you’ll enjoy reading them as much as we did! I’m still waiting for other titles to arrive in the bookstores to add to our collection. Heehee! To help you choose the titles, you can view the full list of Baby Lit books here. 🙂
