How to Make a Lapbook

A lapbook is a great way of introducing concepts to your kids. It’s interactive and fun to use! Think DIY lift-the-flap book. 🙂 I’ve heard about lapbooking a couple of years ago but I didn’t start doing it until late last year. I mentally “pinned” it in my head for future homeschool use.

So come December 2015, I was thinking of a creative way to introduce Christmas to my son with a material that we can revisit regularly aside from the Bible. I wanted to include other Christmas symbols and verses and have them all in one place. Then I remembered a fellow homeschooling mom shared her lapbooks in our Facebook group!

I didn’t know how to make one so I Googled it and watched a couple of instructional videos on YouTube. It was so easy to do! 🙂 Here’s a step-by-step guide to making a lapbook:

1. Get a folder.

2. Open it.

3. Fold half of the cover inward.

4. Fold the other half of the back cover inward.

Tadaaaa! Simple, right?! Here are some lapbooks I’ve done for my preschooler. 🙂

I made this because Timmy has been obsessed with bunnies since we visited a petting zoo. We’re actually thinking of getting one!

If you need more space you can also do a tri-fold lapbook! You can check out this video to learn how! 🙂 Feel free to share some lapbooks you’ve done!
